The ATV Safety Institute (ASI) is sponsoring the 2012 "Do the Ride Thing" ATV Safety PSA contest. To enter, youth ages 6-18 create a 30- or 60-second video/PSA, upload it to YouTube and submit an entry form on the ASI Web site.
There will be three winners in each of the three age categories (6-10 years, 11-14years and 15-18 years) and two product categories. 1st place winners earn $500; 2nd place is $300; and 3rd place is $200. Plus, all age and product categories are eligible to win the $2,500 grand prize. The 19 prizes total $8,500.
The winning 30- and 60-second videos will be used as public service announcements (PSAs) by the ATV Safety Institute. For more information and to see last year’s winning video, go to http://www.atvsafety.org/atv_psa_contest/index.html.

NWTF GRANTS FOR 4-H SHOOTING SPORTS
We are now taking applications for the summer 2012 county 4-H Shooting Sports grant. This is a continuation of a grant program established using funds from the National Wild Turkey Federation. The grants are designated to be used in starting and strengthening 4-H Shooting Sports programs. An application can be downloaded at 4h.tennessee.edu/ideas12/attach/SSgrant12.doc. Deadline for application is August 10, 2012.
All county agents and volunteers who direct 4-H Shooting Sports programs will be expected to abide by the procedures and guidelines as stated in the Tennessee 4-H Shooting Sports Program Planning Guide. All individuals who instruct will be expected to hold 4-H Shooting Sports certification in the discipline in which they are instructing. Training will be provided for all individuals needing certification at state 4-H Shooting Sports training events. Volunteers who are instructors should be registered as official 4-H volunteers with their county 4-H office. Please refer to the guidelines on the application for more information.
Please thank your local NWTF chapter for their passionate support of 4-H Shooting Sports. They would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
