Home Horticulture Project

University of Tennessee Trial Gardens

On Thursday of 2001 Academic Conference, the home horticulture project group spent several hours working in the UT Trial Gardens. They weeded flower beds and walkways, and they worked with the fish in the fish pond. In addition to learning about caring for a fish pond, they "learned about different types of flowers, herbs, trees, and water plants. Also, we learned how to make container gardens. It was also fulfillng to see others enjoy the work that we had done." 4-H'ers said that they could use what they learned to do science and 4-H projects, to explore career opportunities, and to raise a garden at home.
