The garden project at 2002 Academic Conference spent the afternoon working at the Community Action Committee's Beardsley Farm. The farm uses organic methods to grow produce for needy people. The 4-H'ers learned about mulch, bees, pollination, compost, and more. One 4-H'er commented that the project would help him help others--such as "older people that can't get out of their house"--in their gardens.
