Members of the Smith County Honor Club received a 4-H S.O.S. mini-grant to help beautify their community walking track and recreation field. Although they had to postpone planting flowers because of the hot, dry summer, the weather didn't keep them from continuing with the rest of the project. The teens assembled two park benches for the walking track. They installed the benches and planted some shrubs. Some of the 4-H'ers reported learning the names of shrubs and the correct time to plant them. The County Executive came to see the benches and was very appreciative of the work the 4-H'ers did to help the citizens of Smith County.
