The
members of the Bradley County Honor Club partnered with local FCE (Family
and Consumer Education) clubs, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and area companies
to make aprons for Alzheimer's patients in Bradley County Nursing Home.
The 4-H'ers learned sewing and clothing construction skills, but they
also gained knowledge and understanding of the needs of people suffering
from Alzheimer's Disease. With the help of the FCE ladies, they constructed
60 aprons. The aprons have ribbons, buttons, zippers, shoe strings,
and other items that help keep a patient's hands busy and, according
to the director of the nursing home, "will be very beneficial for
the patients."
