Teen adventure weekend

46 4-H'ers attending 2001 Teen Adventure Weekend took part in a nutrition and literacy service learning project that was part of the statewide 4-H All Stars service theme, T.E.A.C.H. (Taking Education and Challenging Humanity) Tennessee. Working with staff from TNCEP (Tennessee Nutrition Consumer Education Program), they assembled bags full of books, lesson plans, and activites that they can use to teach children both how to read and how to eat well. They collated the materials, bound the "What Do You Want to Eat?" books, prepared "Tooty Fruity Mix," cut out magnets, and planned how they could use the lesson once they returned home. One 4-H'er commented, "I felt great, because I knew that this was the first step of helping others."
