Columbia Academy Garden Project Group (Maury County)

School Beautification & Gardening for the Needy

In Maury County, the Columbia Academy Garden Project Group wanted to beautify the area around the new school building, particularly next to the art room. At the same time, they planned to add vegetables to the flower garden so they could harvest veggies to give to needy families during the summer. The youth learned basic gardening skills and how the weather affects gardening (their meetings were rained out at least 5 times!). Several of the members toured the "Harvest Share" facilities and learned much about organizations that provide necessities to so many people. They realized "how blessed their families are."
