Sew
and serve
When
Cumberland District 4-H'ers gathered for Fashion Rave Camp, they learned
about sewing, clothes, make-up, and more. Then they put their knowledge
to work through a service learning project to benefit the Battered Women's
Crisis Center in Cumberland County. They provided gift bags filled with
personal toiletry items, and they made stuffed animals for the children
at the shelter. For reflection, they made a memory board with pictures
and thoughts from the 4-H'ers, which they included with the gift to
the shelter. One 4-H'er commented, "These service projects I really
liked doing. I learned how to sew, what a bobbin is, and what a zigzag
stitch is. I think that the women and children will really love their
presents."
