For
several months, the Monroe County Honor Club spent much of their time
at the Tellico West Child Development Center, reading to the children
to get them excited about books. The 4-H'ers learned that they could interact
with children and teach them, while the adults learned that teenagers
"are quite capable of coming up with their own ideas." In the
end, the adults were mainly needed only for transportation! At the end
of the project, the Honor Club members took their "reflection board"
and some candy and had a celebration with the children.
The
Honor Club sent these pictures of their project. They also put together
a scrapbook. Follow the links at the bottoms of the next few pages to
see their service story.
