In this 4-H project, you can learn to express your creativity through art and crafts (including wood crafts), fashion design, clothing construction, and interior design.Here are a few ways that you could help your community and reinforce your 4-H project work, too!

  • teach summer crafts workshops at a nursing home
  • run a kids' crafts booth at the fair, either as free entertainment or to raise money for a good cause
  • make holiday decorations for a homeless shelter or for people in the hospital
  • help Head Start students make Father's Day cards
  • make Christmas frames, bookmarks, or other items for nursing home residents
  • collect crayons and other supplies for hospitals, day cares, etc.
  • make holiday crafts with special needs children
  • create posters to promote 4-H
  • build picnic tables for a local school
  • build wooden flower beds at a community center, school, nursing home, etc.
  • make blue bird boxes, wood duck boxes, etc.
  • restore a gazeebo in the park
  • help build a Habitat for Humanity home
  • build wheelchair ramps for homes, community buildings, etc.
  • construct shelves for the library, a classroom, etc.
  • help nursing home residents decorate their rooms
  • collect items for a women's shelter
  • decorate a Habitat for Humanity house
  • coach an interior design judging team
  • work with foster kids to decorate their group home for the holidays
  • sponsor a clothing drive for a homeless shelter or other local agency
  • sew a quilt for a crisis pregnancy center
  • make clothes for an abused women's shelter
  • create costumes for a local children's theater
  • make historical costumes for the town's 4th of July celebration
  • assist with a fashion show for young 4-H'ers
  • work in the clothing room at a shelter, sorting and folding clothing donations
  • make Alzheimer's Aprons for patients in a local nursing home
  • make caps for cancer patients

  • Hospitals - baby caps, blankets, stuffed animals, preemie gowns, burial gowns
  • Ronald McDonald Homes - decor, quillows, stuffed animals, books, games
  • Doctor's offices - ouchee dolls
  • Fabric gift bags - books, personal care items, techer appreciation, etc.
  • Children - coats, scarves, mittens, apparel
  • Elderly - memory pillows, walker caddies, fidget aprons
  • Disadvantaged - Habitat for Humanity, blankets, stockings
  • Humane Society - new owner kits
  • After School Care - play venters, soft books, tents, kites, games
  • Emergency workers - stuffed animals, blankets, quillows
  • Cancer patients - caps, hug pillows, etc.
