2004, 4-H'ers have been very active in their communities.
They've learned skills and increased their knowledge
of many topics. Service learning was a part of several
state events.
Delegates
to State
4-H Congress collected items for the neonatal
intensive care unit at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
They donated over 5000 items, including lotion, blankets,
gowns, and diapers.
4-H'ers
at Junior
High Academic Conference spent an afternoon
volunteering at several Knoxville agencies.
They
helped out at the following agencies:

In
April, 35 young leaders gathered for the Prudential
Youth Leadership Institute. They spent three
days increasing their leadership skills through service.
They participated in activities such as a blind trust
walk, the Johari Window, community mapping, "Traffic
Jam," "Donation Relocation" and more.

At
4-H
Roundup and State All Star Conference, delegates
collected items for foster children who are making
the transition to independence. They donated items
such as mops, towels, cleaning supplies, baby clothes,
and other things these young men and women need to
start their own homes. All Stars not involved in competition
also spent a morning volunteering at seven Knoxville
agencies. They worked at the following:
