AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, relative to scholarships received thru academic, Tennessee HOPE, athletic or any other scholarships.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE 2010 TENNESSEE 4-H CONGRESS:

      SECTION 1: A zero tolerance policy will apply to academic, Tennessee HOPE, athletic or any other scholarship awarded to attend any state college or university in Tennessee.

      SECTION 2: The zero tolerance policy shall state that anyone in possession of a controlled substance without a prescription or authorization will lose said scholarship.

      SECTION 3: The zero tolerance policy shall state that anyone in possession of a firearm of any type on school grounds or at any school event, will lose said scholarship.

      SECTION 4: The zero tolerance policy shall state that anyone charged and convicted of a criminal act, will lose said scholarship.

      SECTION 5: This act shall become effective upon passage by the legislature and approval by the Governor or upon its otherwise becoming a law. The new requirements shall apply to any student seeking a scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year.
