Specialty Camps

Some of our programs offer you specialized information on such topics as shooting sports, design, clothing, wildlife, electricity, science and technology.  Please see below for information on these camps.  To sign up for camps, contact your local county Extension office at extension.tennessee.edu.


4-H Target Smart Camp

4-H Target Smart Camp is a program of Tennessee 4-H Shooting Sports. It is for youth who are enrolled in grades 5-9 on January 1 of the current calendar year. This resident camp is located at the W.P. Ridley 4-H Center in Columbia, Tennessee. At camp youth learn appropriate skills to succeed in a variety of shooting sports and related areas such as archery, riflery, shotgun use, muzzleloading, and outdoor skills. Programs emphasize safety, correct form, and responsible use. Campers should receive prior training before attending this camp.

Electric Camp

Electric Camp is a fun-filled, rewarding adventure in electricity held at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The camp features learning centers staffed by electric utility professionals. Each learning center will use hands-on activities that allow the 4-H members to learn by doing.  Electric camp is for boys and girls enrolled in 4-H who are in grades 6-7 as of January 1 of the current calendar year. Members do not have to be enrolled in the electric project to attend the camp, but they should have an interest in this area.  For more information, visit the Electric Camp Web site.

* This fee includes the cost of meals, lodging, fields trips, t-shirt, program, etc. Transportation fees are covered by members of the Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association.



Junior High 4-H Academic Conference

Junior High Academic Conference is an educational program on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Participants receive intensive training in their 4-H project areas under the supervision of university scientists and specialists, and explore related career opportunities. The conference provides a variety of rewarding and fun-filled experiences in classroom, outdoor and laboratory settings.  For more information, please visit the Academic Conference Web site.

4-H  O.W.L.S.  Camp

If you love to be outdoors then this is the 4-H Camp for you! You will hike, swim, fish, canoe, work on service projects, sit around the campfire, and enjoy nature from sunup to sundown. Join the adventure and experience the excitement of the great outdoors!  It is open to 6th-10th grade students with an interest in all things outdoors.

Dates - May 30 - June 2, 2017
Location - Land Between the Lakes, Dover, TN
Cost - $190.00*

4-H GROWs Scientists Day Camp

Join us for a fun-filled week of exploring a variety of topics and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.  Students currently in 6-8th grade are invited to the Farrell-Westbrook Complex at Tennessee State University in Nashville for hands-on experiences. All meals and snacks are included, as we explore how meal preparation and nutritional choices help us develop our bodies for fitness, learning, and life!  The cost of the 4-H GROWs Scientists Day Camp is $50 for the full week. After-care is available from 3-5pm for an additional $25 per day. Space is limited and scholarships are available.

Central Region 4-H Agrimania Camp

Have you ever dreamed about finding a career in Animal Science?  Interested in learning more about what Agriculture can offer you?  Participate in this camp and dive deep into Agrimania as we explore Tennessee's agriculture.

Dates - July 19-21, 2017
Location - Cookeville, TN
Cost - $150.00*

Line and Design Camps

If designing and creating things interest you, there are regional camps that may interest you. These camps offer an exciting chance to learn all about design projects.  There are discovery activities which make learning fun. Due to space restrictions, registration is limited. Class size is small to ensure individual attention and completion of all projects. Participants will be accepted on a first come basis.

Eastern Region 4-H Fashion and Design Camp

Dates - June 6-8, 2017
Location - Pigeon Forge, TN
Cost - $100.00*

Central Region 4-H "Taste of Culinary"

Dates - July 11-13, 2017
Location - Murfreesboro, TN

Central Region 4-H "FCS Behind the Scenes:  Interior Design"

Dates - May 30 - June 1, 2017
Location - Atlanta, GA

Western Region 4-H Line and Design Camp

The Western Region Line & Design Camp encourages children to discover their own creative abilities and explore opportunities to develop skills that will be long lasting and perhaps contribute to a profitable income.
