Outdoor Recreation

Outdoor recreation opens the door to adventure, discovery, and personal growth. From hiking and camping to fishing and kayaking, these activities provide enjoyable ways to explore nature while staying physically, mentally, and socially active.

Through 4-H, youth can enjoy outdoor experiences like:

  • Hiking, backpacking, and camping in Tennessee’s beautiful natural spaces
  • Canoeing and kayaking to explore rivers, lakes, and streams
  • Fishing and hunting are meaningful ways to connect with nature and tradition
  • Shooting sports such as archery, rifle, shotgun, and pistol—focused on safety, skill, and precision

These hands-on experiences not only build confidence and outdoor skills but also foster strong friendships and create lasting memories for families. Whether you’re exploring a trail or learning to cast a line, 4-H outdoor recreation helps you enjoy the outdoors in ways that last a lifetime.
