Well, the summer is winding down, at least for 4-H, and the fall will be here before we know it. This means 4-H club meetings, 4-H club meetings, and maybe a few 4-H club meetings. Schools will be reaching out soon, if not already, asking when the “4-H person” will be there to lead 4-H clubs. If you are in a rural community, you have probably already talked to every teacher with whom you work at some point this summer at the grocery store, hardware store, or at the gas station.

The start of a new school year is exciting and also a tad stressful. Will the youth be excited about 4-H? Will there be chaos since they have been out all summer? Will I have enough youth interested in all of our project groups or afterschool clubs? The short answer is, “it will all work out”. Maybe things won’t go as planned. Maybe there will be hiccups. But, at the end of the day, when you lay your head on your pillow, if you know you have done the best you can to serve the youth in our 4-H program, then usually everything works out fine. So, before any chaos hits us, please take a deep breath and remember that “it’s all for the children”.
