Feature Friday: Jacob Genung, McNairy County [Walmart Youth Choice: Youth Voice]

Jacob Genung is a Teen Leader in McNairy County for the Walmart Healthy Habits grant. Jacob is a sophomore at McNairy Central High School and is heavily involved in the Poultry Project, which began with the Check Chain in 2015. He has been involved in the McNairy County Teens Reaching youth program since its inception in 2016. He began as a mentee in the program, originally funded by a mentoring grant. In 2017, he began serving as a Tenn Leader with the Walmart Healthy Habits grant program. Jacob shows a lot of unselfish initiative such as arriving early at events to help load and unload supplies. He has cut up fruits or vegetables as needed for food preparation lessons, then led a group of Junior High 4-H members in making the recipes. Jacob has the ability to work well with groups of individuals as he served as a room chairperson for county public speaking and Clover Bowl contests for the past three years. He has a gentle leadership quality, allowing him ot lead by example, and steer younger members insistently, but lightheartedly, making him a favorite among them. Jacob is currently working on his portfolio for competition in the Poultry Project in 2018. A big thanks to Jacob for his dedication to McNairy County 4-H!
