The 2024 State 4-H Livestock and Meats Judging Contest was an exciting event held at the University of Tennessee’s Herbert College of Agriculture. Open to Tennessee 4-H members in the 9th – 12th grade, the contest drew over 60 participants from across the state. The day included judging beef cattle, goats, and hogs, along with meats. The contest concluded with the announcement of the top teams in each judging contest. The top team in the Livestock Judging portion of the contest was Lincoln County. As for the Meats Judging portion, Williamson County- Team A was the top team.
Livestock and Meats Judging was held at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in the Brehm Animal Science Arena on Tuesday, June 4. This contest was open to Tennessee 4-H members in the 9th – 12th grade, and there were over 30 participants from across the state.
Livestock:
Counties that participated at the Tennessee 4-H State Livestock Judging Contest were:
- Lincoln County
- Rutherford County
- Williamson County
- Macon County
- Loudon County
- Gibson County
- McMinn County
- Cumberland County
- Chester County
The day concluded with the announcement of the top team being from Lincoln County! The winning team was made up of the following 4-H members:
- Bekah Eakin
- Caroline Garrell
- Libbey Logan
- Kaylee Sells
Behind Lincoln County, Rutherford County finished in 2nd place followed by Williamson County in 3rd place. Rutherford County’s livestock judging team included 4-H’ers Riley Fowler, Emma Millican, and Sarah Wheaton. As for Williamson County, their team 4-H’ers Abigail Berny, Addison Carroll, Alivia Haylett, and Gavin Page.
Meats:

- Monroe County
- Sevier County
- Rutherford County
- Hardeman County
- Tipton County
The day concluded with the announcement of the top team being from Williamson County- Team A! The winning team was made up of the following 4-H members:

- Cole Deliello
- Shelby Thames
Behind Williamson County- Team A, Macon County finished in 2nd place and Monroe County- Team A finished in 3rd place. The livestock judging team of Macon County consisted of the following 4-H members: Jayden Hesson, John Marsh, Jessa Spears, and Kyra White. Monroe County- Team A included 4-H’ers Jackie Hatfield, Lydia Johnson, Sarah Lay, and Elizabeth Phillips.
