Justin Crowe, Director and State 4-H Program Leader
Hello from Franklin where I am honored and excited to represent UTIA at the UT System Leadership Institute. This training is bringing together twenty-nine leaders from across the system to grow in leadership development to hopefully help us become better mentors and leaders as well as better listeners. I’m excited about the week’s activities and getting to connect with peers from across the system. President Boyd spoke last night at our opening event and talked about some of the skills that it takes to be an effective leader. He talked about having a mission, having values, and surrounding yourself with great people. These are all things that come easy for us in 4-H because we have great people, we have a strong mission statement and of course, we have core values that guide Extension and 4-H. These types of opportunities take us away from the office but they are great for connecting as well as building ourselves as leaders so I would encourage you if there are leadership opportunities to visit with your county director and regional director about ways to help you grow as a leader. Connecting with peers and taking away nuggets of information to help you be better at your job is what we all strive to do and I’m certainly optimistic that I’ll get that this week Thanks for what you do every day. And have a wonderful week |
