Last week I highlighted Tennessee 4-H Congress but so much more happened after last week’s edition of Ideas was published.
On Monday, our delegates enjoyed a day in Nashville. They enjoyed educational sessions and a scavenger hunt around Nashville as well as the opportunity to discuss and vote on bills in the actual chambers where state government takes place. In the afternoon, the 4-H members met with their legislators to learn more about state government and to tell their 4-H story.
Tuesday was a double dose of fun. While most of the delegates were busy watching the 4-H History Bowl competition, several of our 4-H members attended Ag Day on the Hill in Nashville where they learned more about the industry and had the chance to interact with legislators and the Governor. State 4-H Council President Jim Jenkins was asked to speak before the House Agricultural Committee and tell his story.
4-H Congress concluded with the closing banquet where we recognized several state winners and heard from Governor Lee, who reflected on his 4-H Congress experiences. It was a wonderful 75th 4-H Congress! I can’t wait to see what the next 75 years of 4-H Congress hold (no, I won’t be around for all of them 😊).
