On Tuesday, February 9, 28 4-H members joined together virtually for a Southwest Cooking Demo. The demo was led by Arizona 4-H Assistant Agent, Liz Sparks, and four Arizona Healthy Living Ambassadors.

Ms. Sparks runs the Tucson Village Farm, which is a working urban farm built by and for the youth the community. The Farm is a seed-to-table program designed to reconnect young people to a healthy food system, teach them how to grow and prepare fresh food, and empower them to make healthy life choices.

Tennessee 4-H members enjoyed cooking along and learned how to make potato tacos, homemade tortillas, homemade salsa, and baked churros. After participating in this cooking demo, over 50% of participants said they learned how to make a recipe healthier and 80% said they are completely confident in their ability to rate a meal.

Be sure to save the date for March 31 at 6:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. CT for our next cooking demo using beef with our guest Janna Sullivan with the Tennessee Beef Council.
