Janiece Pigg was welcomed to the state 4-H staff on August 1. She serves as the Extension assistant for diversity, equity, and inclusion for 4-H Youth Development. Janiece was born and raised in Starkville, Mississippi. As a 4-H alumna, Janiece was interested in agriculture from a young age, leading her to earn a bachelor of science in agricultural education, leadership, and communications from Mississippi State University in 2019 and a master of science in agricultural and extension education and evaluation from Louisiana State University in 2021. After completing her degrees, Janiece worked for Tennessee State University in the College of Agriculture and Cooperative Extension in an online curriculum development role. Through her career in the land-grant system, Janiece has developed a background in qualitative research methodologies investigating transformational and experiential learning, cultural competency assessment and development, DEI in agriculture, and minority youth recruitment and retention. Janiece is deeply passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion; cultural competency; and equitable programming in 4-H and agriculture, both professionally and personally. |
