TN 4-H REPRESENTED AT NATIONAL INSTITUTE ON COOPERATIVE EDUCATION (NICE) CONFERENCE

Melisa Henry, Extension Agent, Putnam County

Emily Welte of Putnam County represented Tennessee 4-H at the 2017 National Institute on Cooperative Education (NICE) Conference held on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington. While there, Emily participated as part of a cooperative board tasked with making decisions regarding leader- ship and common issues that arise within those boards. She served as secretary of her board and helped complete a board case presentation. She also participated in leadership development and college preparation workshops. Other activities included a cooperative based “Breakout game”, question and answer panel with local small business owners, and a fun night of skating and mini-golf. The 2017 NICE Conference was held in junction with the Kentucky Youth Seminar. Emily’s trip was sponsored by the generous involvement of the Tennessee

Electric Cooperative Association and the Tennessee Council of Cooperatives.
