Welcome Daniel Collins, Extension Specialist for 4-H Camping and STEM programs

I am excited to share that our search for the position of Extension Specialist focused on 4-H STEM and camping has concluded, and Daniel Collins will join the state 4-H staff effective March 15, 2021. Daniel earning his Bachelor of Arts in Health & Physical Education degree (Pre-K to 12) with an endorsement in Driver’s Education from Emory and Henry College, a Master of Science degree in Education – Career & Technical Education, emphasis in Extension Education from Virginia Tech, a second Master of Science degree in Education – Health Promotion and Sport Performance, also from Virginia Tech, and is completing his Doctorate of Education degree – Agricultural and Extension Education (emphasis on Leadership and Adult Learning.)

A lifelong 4-H member, beginning at the age of 5, he began his Extension career as a camp staff member and educational programming assistant at the Southwest Virginia 4-H Center (six summers), worked for eight years as a 4-H agent in Virginia and spent two years as a 4-H agent in North Carolina. Most recently, Daniel worked (past 4 years) as the state coordinator for International Exchange Programs with North Carolina 4-H. In his new role with UT Extension, Daniel will oversee statewide 4-H camping and STEM programs, and will coordinate the 4-H Performing Arts Troupe. Daniel will be housed in the state 4-H office on campus.
