2021 State Fall Judging Results

The 2021 State 4-H Fall Judging contest was held on October 23, 2021, on the University of Tennessee agriculture campus in Knoxville. The results are as follows:

CONSUMER DECISION MAKING

Teams:

  1. Dyer County
  2. Macon County
  3. Knox County, Team A
  4. Knox County, Team B
  5. Henderson County

Other teams competing included Madison, Marion, Monroe and Robertson.  The Dyer County team will participate in the Western National 4-H Roundup in Denver, Colorado in January 2021. Team members included Lily Cravens, Amelia Langford and Abigail Willard.

Macon County will represent Tennessee also at the Western National 4-H Roundup in Denver in the FCS Quiz Bowl.  Their team members include Ella Flynn, Leah Perkins and Delaney Turner.

High Individuals:

  3. Bonnie Phillips, Knox County, Team A
  4. Amelia Langford, Dyer County
  5. Julia Martin, Knox County, Team B

This year, teams and individuals were also recognized for their outstanding achievement in oral reasons.  The following teams and individuals ranked in the top five (5).

DAIRY PRODUCTS

Three teams competed in the state Dairy Products judging contest.  The winning team will go an educational trip.  The high individual receives a scholarship. The results are as follows:

Teams:

  1. Sevier County, Team A
  2. Sevier County, Team B
  3. Monroe County

Individuals:

  1. Kate Scully, Sevier County, Team A
  2. Abi Jo Breeden, Sevier County, Team B
  3. Aubrey Beringer, Monroe County
  4. Molly Daniels, Sevier County, Team A

Members of the Sevier County, Team A winning team are Molly Daniels, Kate Scully and Kaleigh Jo Rule.

FORESTRY

Six teams competed in the Forestry judging contest.  Putnam County placed first.  The Putnam County forestry judging team will participate in the National 4-H Forestry Invitational at Jackson’s Mill State 4-H Center in near Weston, West Virginia in July of 2022. Team members included Bailey Steger, Britta Gaetjens, Cadence Howell and Kinley Arms.  Other team ranks include:

POULTRY

Sumner County, Team A was named the winning team in the Poultry judging contest.  Their team will travel to Louisville, Kentucky later this month to participate in the National 4-H Poultry Judging Contest. Team members included Abigail Barnett, Maddie Rippy, Callie Head and Deanna Speicher.  The following is a list of all teams participating in the 2021 contest:

Caleb Rawdon of Putnam County placed first overall in production.  Abigail Barnett of Sumner County placed first overall in market products.

GRILL MASTER CHALLENGE

Nine teams participated in the Grill Master Challenge, formerly known as Outdoor Meat Cookery Contest, at State 4-H Judging event. The following are the results:

Teams:

  1. Macon County
  2. Anderson County
  3. DeKalb County
  4. Pickett County
  5. Houston County
  6. Unicoi County
  7. Hardin County
  8. Tipton County
  9. Jefferson County

Each member of the winning team will receive a $50 cash award.  The Macon County team included Austin Comer, Kyra White, Aidan Flynn, and Emma Stevens.

  • William Manners, Houston County (Lamb)
  • Will Dotson, Clay County (Pork)
  • Callie Smith, Jefferson County (Poultry)
  • Lilly Waggoner, DeKalb County (2nd high individual in Poultry)

The top two contestants in the poultry division will participate in the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference in Louisville, Kentucky later in November. Callie Smith will represent Tennessee in the National 4-H Chicken Barbecue Contest.  Lilly Waggoner will participate it he National 4-H Turkey Barbecue Contest
