Furthering the Establishment of Spanish 4-H Youth Curriculum and Parental Resources

Furthering the Establishment of Spanish 4-H Youth Curriculum and Parental Resources

The project titled “Furthering the Establishment of Spanish 4-H Youth Curriculum and Parental Resources” has been awarded $1,000 to translate established 4-H youth curriculum and parent information into Spanish. Tennessee 4-H Youth Development has recognized an emergent need to increase the quantity of Spanish materials including parent informational forms, waivers, and youth educational curriculum materials. All 4-H Youth Development offices will have access to the translated materials including the four 4-H camping centers, the three regional 4-H offices, the state 4-H office, and each of the ninety-five county 4-H offices. In total, over 100 4-H offices and all 4-H personnel will have access to utilize the translated materials for Spanish-speaking youth and parents.

By establishing these resources, 4-H Youth Development will have an enhanced capacity to foster belonging, access, equity, and inclusion throughout each 4-H educational program area in the state of Tennessee. 4-H Youth Development is devoted to increasing equitable access to all forms of education across Tennessee. Spanish resources have already been developed and are continually being established through internal and external funding sources.

Advancing Programmatic Accessibility in Outdoor Recreation and Camping in 4-H Youth Development

The project titled “Advancing Programmatic Accessibility in Outdoor Recreation and Camping in 4-H Youth Development” has been awarded $2,000 to further equip each 4-H center and the mobile outdoor recreation unit with accessibility equipment accommodations for 4-H outdoor recreation, shooting sports, and camping activities.

All four 4-H centers, which currently serve as the core catalyst of the 4-H camping and outdoor recreation program, will be equipped with measures to successfully promote and integrate equal opportunities and access in camping, outdoor recreation, and shooting sports to youth with disabilities. The mobile outdoor recreation and shooting sports unit will be furnished with accessibility technology and equipment to effectively serve youth with disabilities in all 4-H outdoor recreation activities including fishing, archery, and shooting sports. This project will increase equitable access and opportunity for youth involvement in the camping, outdoor recreation, and shooting sports program areas for youth with disabilities.
