Most of us love walking around the fair while enjoying an ice cream cone, lemonade, or cotton candy – or all of the above, but fairs are so much more. They are a place for families and friends to come together to celebrate communities. They are a place to recognize the accomplishments of 4-H members and others who have worked hard on their projects all year. They are also a place to showcase agriculture. This year’s state fair, which will focus on the beef industry, will be like no other.

As many of you are aware, the Tennessee State Fair has officially moved to Lebanon to be held in conjunction with the Wilson County Fair. On August 12 through August 21, you will see Lebanon hopping with midway rides, games for all ages, and more agriculture projects than you can imagine.

The fair will be recognizing “hometown heroes”, men and women from our community who give selflessly to help others. This will be the theme of the 2021 state fair and let’s us pay tribute to our hometown heroes who have helped so many through a difficult year including the pandemic and the tornados in middle TN. 

I cannot wait to see the sights and hear the sounds of people coming together again to enjoy a world-class fair and to honor so many. There will be something for everyone. For those who enjoy a good 5K race (or who prefer to sit at home and cheer everyone on from your couch), please register for the annual TSF 4-H Funnel Cake 5K, scheduled for August 14, 2021 at the fairgrounds.
