4-H’ers-do you have a hidden talent? What about a not-so-hidden talent? Has social distancing given you the opportunity to learn a new talent or perfect an old one? Pork Cooking Demo
Phyllis Ferguson from the Tennessee Pork Producer’s Association will be joining us via Zoom April 21 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. ET/5:00 to 6:00 p.m. CDT to teach you how to make some some delicious pork nachos! National 4-H Volunteer Conference
What keeps volunteers motivated? Is it tangible or intangible rewards? T-shirts, caps, coffee mugs, puppy sweaters, double fudge brownies, or even the occasional Chinese buffet can all play a part at keeping volunteers happy.
But research shows that it is the intangible rewards that keep volunteers motivated. Programming efforts need to also focus on these intangibles.
Possible Summer Feeding Programs for 2021 4-H Day Camps
The Tennessee Department of Education works with USDA to offer feeding sites traditionally within free and reduced county programs. Since the pandemic, USDA has waived certain restrictions that allow anyone to participate in summer feeding programs. Please complete a short survey about the possibility of utilizing this type of program for your 2021 Summer 4-H programming.
4-H Visit to the Capitol
Recently, I had the opportunity to travel to Nashville to visit the legislature, along with the Tennessee 4-H State Council President Tim Held. He was asked to attend the House of Representatives Agriculture and Natural Resources committee to speak on behalf of Tennessee 4-H, and to share his story as part of National Ag Week.
